Early Childhood…
Miesha Miller was raised in Kansas City, Missouri, with her brothers and sisters. Miesha attended Raytown High School. Miesha attained her first internship at Kansas City Public Television Station as a senior in high school. She went on to attend Howard University, where she attained a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Media and Film with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism.
When I grow up…
“I got involved with broadcasting at 15 years old. Generation Rap is a weekly radio show produced by teens. Generation Raps was my first experience in radio, and also my first time being around mentors who look like me. I knew I wanted to be involved in media at an early age. Generation Rapinspired me. They helped to mode me, and pushed me towards a career in Broadcast Journalism.” Miesha Miller
Career…
“I am currently a Recording and Producing fellow for Reuters TV. It’s a 9-month fellowship program. Although my contract is up in August 2018, I am working hard to stay on with the company. I also work for BET as a freelancer.” –Miesha Miller
Lessons learned from work…
“My current position has taught me how to navigate newsrooms politics. I have also learned to be more diplomatic in my approaches, and removing my emotions when I’m dealing with certain situations.” -Miesha Miller

“I want to be remembered as someone who always strived to do the right thing. I would also like to be remembered for my work ethic. I want people to know that I work hard. I want to be remembered as that girl that worked her butt off, and made nothing out of something.” –Miesha Miller
Traveling back in time…
“If I could travel back in time, I would tell my younger self to have a little bit more fun. Go to that party, take the night off, and just go. Don’t be afraid to be in the moment, and experience life. Go with the flow. “ –Miesha Miller
20 years from now…
“In 20 years I see myself being close to retirement, having a diversified financial portfolio, and being financially free. I also see myself having multiple assets, and businesses. I plan to have my MBA in 20 years as well. However, ultimately in 20 years I plan to be happy and free. Whatever that means.” – Miesha Miller
Confidence to me…
“I often times feel as though I haven’t mastered confidence yet. However, I believe confidence is the ultimate love, respect, and belief for one self. Confidence is something that no one else can give you.” –Miesha Miller
To be a black woman to me is…
“To be a black woman to me means being resilient, and being connected. Often times, we’re misunderstood because people mistake our strength. We’re strong because we have to be.” –Miesha Miller
“To be a queen is to be a champion. Every queen wears their crown differently. Although our journeys make us unique, our destinations continue to make us the same. Every queen is grinding for a purpose; every queen is shining in her own light. Just remember no matter what queen, you got this.” -Taylor Mills
