Praise him in the Hallway
I heard this saying very often growing up. My grandma Charmaine, God rest her soul would say “you have to praise him in the hallway.” As a kid, you’re thinking what is this lady talking about, and where can I find this mysterious hallway? This past week I found myself saying “I have to praise God in the hallway.” I now fully understand what this means. In layman’s terms, it means be thankful for what you have now. It means instead of counting all the things you don’t have, wake up in the morning and be grateful for what you do have. In a consumer, money motivated world, we are so concerned with having it all. We are concerned with dressing a certain way, and obtaining/maintaining a certain social status, that we forget to just take in life, and all of its beauty that we are able to enjoy right now. I know you want that new car, or that new furniture, maybe even a new house. But right now you have a car that gets you where you need to be, you have furniture that still functions, and I bet you have a clean place to stay. So for now praise him in the hallway, and remember to smile and #begrateful.
