Supporting black owned Businesses
I am an extreme advocate for supporting black owned businesses. However, there are many black people that do not feel the same way. Some people have created the notion that black owned businesses have terrible customer service. Now yes queen, I have experienced this myself. However, it only made me want to support black owned businesses more, not disown them all. Some people also simply do not support because they do not believe in starting a business. Take for example your one friend who has an idea of starting a clothing company, or is really good at a particular trade and wants to start their own business. Now be honest queen, are you truly doing your all to support/encourage your friend and their dream? Or are you secretly saying, “this business is going to fail” or “I wish they would stop trying to be an entrepreneur.” See it’s this kind of mindset or behavior that will make a person question if you’re even really there for them. When you hear about your friend or loved one wanting to start their own business, you should light up with joy, and have nothing but positivity to say towards their dreams. Now of course be a friend or loved one who also makes sure they understand the risks, and hard work that comes with owning a business. Give them, and other black owned businesses the support they need to flourish. If you have a bad experience with a black own business, tell them about it. However, let it come from a place of love and give them tips on how your experience could have been better. Most importantly though, keep going back! We need each other. You cannot be woke but not want to support your own. It doesn’t work that way queen. This week, when you’re shopping for your next fit, or wanting to try a new restaurant, support a black owned business. #supportyourown
