Take a deep breath and remember who the f*** you Are!
“Black women all over the world are shining. Practicing black girl magic, melanin on fleek, and thriving in their careers. But it is not their skin that makes them unique, but rather similar. However, It is their story and their journey that captivates people making each and every one special in their own way.” -Taylor Mills
Early Childhood…

She then went on to attend the University of Illinois where she attained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Kinesiology. She also attained a Master’s Degree from Louisiana State University in Sports Management.
When I grow up…
“I honestly did not know what I wanted to be growing up. There were two girls that attended my high school before me. I just new I wanted to be just like them. They were both Kinesiology majors.” –Tyler Burke
Career…
“I just completed a one year contract position with the Minnesota Vikings. My title was Innovative Leadership Rotational Associate. It’s hard to be in the sports world. I obtained this position from applying, and interviewing. But I now understand in order to get to the next position. I have to do more than apply. I have to put myself out there, and network. I’ve recently attended some interviews, and I am going to continue to network.” Tyler Burke
Lessons learned from work…
“The biggest lesson I learned from working for the Minnesota Vikings, is how to navigate through working in corporate America. As a black woman, I did not feel welcomed in corporate America, and this was shocking at first. Going into another company, I will have a better understanding of how to talk to people. As a black woman in my previous role, I did not have the luxury to come into work and be quiet. Being quiet in my opinion was viewed as you have an attitude. However, if you talked too much you were viewed as being too loud. So you really have to learn how to navigate through corporate America.” – Tyler Burke
I am proudest of…
“Sometimes I have a hard time seeing my own accomplishments. But I am proud of myself for my constant achievements, and continuing to follow my dreams. Graduating with a Masters Degree in Sports Management, and then gaining a position with an NFL team was the number one thing I wanted to do, and I did just that.” – Tyler Burke
Remember me as…
“I want to be remembered for helping others reach their success in any industry. I want to be remembered as someone who knows how to network, and always helping to push people along in their career.” – Tyler Burke
Traveling back in time…
“If I could travel back in time I would tell my younger self to set goals, and make plans. I would tell her that you are way better than you think you are. Playing small doesn’t help.” – Tyler Burke
20 years from now…
“I never wanted to be an entrepreneur. But as of lately I’ve been working on plans to start my own platform. I also hope to be happily married.” – Tyler Burke
Confidence to me is…
“Confidence to me means that even if you’re feeling down, you’re able to continue to push forward. Currently I’ve been living my life off this quote on my phone that says ‘Take a deep breath and remember who the f*** you are’. No matter what anyone says or feel about you, remember who you are.” – Tyler Burke
To be a black woman to me is…
“Being a black woman to me means to be strong, and resilient. Sometimes we get negative connotations placed on us for the very things that makes us who we are. I’m going to wear these braids in my hair, and I am going to be who I am.” – Tyler Burke
“To be a queen is to be a champion. Every queen wears their crown differently. Although our journeys make us unique, our destinations continue to make us the same. Every queen is grinding for a purpose; every queen is shining in her own light. Just remember no matter what queen, you got this.” -Taylor Mills
