An Introduction is Necessary
For the last week or so I thought about my first post and contribution to #YGTQ. I asked myself and tried to get ideas from friends on what I should write about first. I have so many ideas in my head but I knew that my very first post had to be funny, and easy to read. But, why would anyone want to read anything from me? Do not get me wrong, I think I’m dope. My momma knows I am dope. My friends know I am dope. The people that work within my community know I am dope. But you, you the person reading this right now, may not know how dope my dope a** is. So I thought that I should introduce my self and reintroduce myself like Hov.
My name is LaNita Jefferson. Typically people who know me very well call me Nita. I’ve been called different names like Juanita Selena, and Latina. I pretty much answer to anything as long as it is not derogatory. However, I do like for my friends to call me the B-word with love and compassion. It just sounds so good. I don’t know if that is something I should be celebrating, but I’m trying to be transparent.
I’m a southern girl. The first time that I realized I was southern was when I asked my dad to put a chicken coop in our backyard. My husband and I eat so many eggs. I just felt like we would benefit from having a chicken coop in our backyard. That’s how Southern I am. I’m from the land of sweet tea (yuck) and lemonade. The land of fried chicken for breakfast and watermelon on a hot summer South Carolina day. The land of “bless your heart” can mean the same thing as “kiss my entire black a**.” I have a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Carolina. I am the co-owner of a Mental Health Private Practice. I am the mom of three humans and two fur babies. I am a wife of five years.
I am a person who believes in diversity. I love learning about different cultures, and of course, I love my own. We’re pretty bad a**. I mean we did invent hip-hop. What more can I say? Plus, I was born in 1985. Do you know all the things that happened in 1985 when it comes to music? I’m just going to name a few right here: Prince “Purple Rain” (technically July 1984 but in my mind that was the month I was conceived so it counts), LL Cool J platinum album titled “Radio”, Grandmaster Flash and The Get Fresh Crew. If you don’t know whom any of those people are I suggest you look them up. Okay, enough about me. I want to be able to provide some kind of enlightenment, encouragement, and be a refreshing feeling to my readers.
This is not going to be an ordinary blog. #WifeMomBoss (#WMB) will be for the woman who believes in self-identity, and for the woman who believes that the sky is the limit. #WMB will be for the woman who believes that they can shoot for the stars and know that the gun might jam, but all that means is start over and keep trying. #WMB is for the woman that is and or wants to be an entrepreneur. This is for the woman who still works hard and struggles to remain sexy after having kids.
#WMB is for the woman who has fallen in love over and over again and still believes in true love. This is for the woman that walks into a room and despite how many haters she has, she continues to smile and say hello because she knows that killing them with kindness is the best revenge. #WMB is for the woman who is learning to count her blessings, and move in silence. This blog is for the woman whose presence yells “the Queen” and she does not have to say one damn word.
If you are that woman, I recommend you treat yourself to a few of my words. I will use a lot of real-life scenarios to relate to my posts. I will also use music references because in my opinion music is the soundtrack to our lives. One of my favorite rappers of all time is Mr. Christopher notorious B.I.G. Wallace. One of his quotes that I will reference often either verbally or emotionally is “If you don’t know now you know.” So buckle up and Stay tuned.
So Real!!! Loved this and look forward to more!!!
